VB6: A Recipe Book That Will Change Your Life
No, it's NOT a diet book but it can change your life
That's a pretty tall claim, isn't it? That a recipe book can change your life? Well, it can.Truly. And it doesn't matter how young or old you are, what your general health is like OR what kind of foods you like to eat.
Miracle?
It seems like a miracle but it's true. This honestly isn't a diet book. You can enjoy an enormous range of foods. And at the same time, your health will improve, as will your skin, your hair and your general feeling of wellbeing.
Yeah, right...
Really. You see, what Mark Bittman explains in this book is that we have structure to almost everything we do in life. But few of us do when it comes to eating. It can be something of a haphazard affair. So it IS a diet? Nope.
A sample day
How about starting the day with apple-oat muffins? Then for lunch, some creamy tomato soup with breadsticks. By all means have a snack - try garlic tortillas or Spanish-style chickpea dip with carrots. But of course, there's always dinner too. How about Tuscan chicken stew? Or beef stew with pistachios, beets and brown rice?
Dessert
I bet you weren't expecting this. There are lots of desserts to choose from. Try chocolate chunk oatmeal cookies or banana-hazelnut-chocolate ice cream. And this is actually good for you and can change your life? Yes.
We all know
Despite our aches and pains, high blood pressure, overweight or whatever, we persist in eating the wrong foods. Why is that? Many people tut-tut when they see others smoking a cigarette - 'those things kill' they say. But eating the wrong foods somehow isn't seen in the same way.I wonder why? We all know what's good for us and what isn't. We know:
- That aches and pains in the knee and hip joints are probably caused by being overweight
- That if we have high cholesterol that cheese-loaded pizza isn't going to help the situation
- That diabetes and other illnesses can be solved by the correct diet
- That taking drugs for ailments rarely cures them
- That processed foods are so bad for us
- That no-one wants to count calories or points and that diets are boring, unsatisfying and don't work
So try this book. It's not a diet. It lets you eat incredibly well (even chocolate!), there are no restrictions about eating out, frozen and canned convenience foods aren't banned by any means, you can drink alcohol, there's no need to become vegetarian or vegan and you'll find no nutritional information that you need to study.
The proof of the ... um ... pudding
The author has been eating in this way for seven years and the health benefits have been huge. What's more, he has enjoyed his food more than before.
He offers three hundred and fifty brilliant recipes in this book and we've been following it for only three weeks now. Mark Bittman says that it took just short of two months for him to see the benefits.
Three weeks in and I'm seeing the benefits already.
You have to try this - you won't regret it

- Yes, you can cheat
- If you have a fast food burger once in a while, that's fine
